The holiday season is approaching and while it is a time for family, celebrations, and general merriment, it’s also one of the most hectic times of the year. All that bustling about can lead to a significant build-up of stress, which will put a serious damper on jolly times! It’s very important to take time to focus on yourself to enjoy maximum cheer. Thankfully, our ACSM-certified Wellness Coach, Sherri Lepley, has compiled some simple and fast tips that you can do anywhere.  These 60-second stress reducers will keep you centered and relaxed, no matter how busy your schedule gets.

5 QUICK STRESS-RELIEVING TIPS

Deep Breathing

Time Out

When you find yourself in what you feel is a stressful situation, count slowly to 10 before you react.

Take a Mental Vacation

Close your eyes and place yourself in an environment that gives you peace and joy. Visualize your ideal place and what you would do there.

Do a Body Scan

Your mental stress may also cause your body to tense up and make things worse. Close your eyes and notice where your body is reacting to stress. It will typically be your head, neck, and/or shoulders. Do some head circles, shoulder shrugs, and rolls.

Practice Gratitude
