DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue treatments use more pressure to release muscle tension. The focus in this style of massage is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia. Deep tissue work is beneficial to dissipate scar tissue and relieve chronic pain. While a deep tissue massage should not cause pain, some discomfort may be expected as the therapist works to release knots and adhesions. Soreness and slight bruising may occur after receiving deep work, but these should disappear shortly after the treatment.

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Myofascial release refers to the application of gentle, sustained pressure on soft tissue restrictions during the session. Much like other styles of massage, myofascial release is a technique engaged by therapists to relieve pain and regain range of motion from constricted areas. The term myofascial refers to the layer of tough membranes that envelope, connect, and support the muscle tissue. The goal of using this hands-on technique is to specifically reduce pain caused by overly tight (sometimes called "stuck") myofascial layer underneath the skin's surface.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports massage is a form of bodywork geared towards athletes and those who workout hard and often. Using various techniques, a sports massage therapist is able to achieve a specific goal when working on the athlete. Sports massage is often used to help prevent injury, prepare the body for athletic activities, maintain optimal condition, and/or help athletes recover. This style specifically targets the release of tight muscles and will help improve flexibility, reduce pain and increase the range of motion in restricted areas.
