Juan holds a degree in Athletic Training from UT Austin, is certified by the Board of Certification, and licensed to practice in the state of Texas since 2016. He has been teaching yoga for 20+ years, completed massage training at the Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage, is an ACE certified personal trainer, and is certified in the Barbell Rehab Method. Currently, Juan also works as an Airrosti Certified Recovery Specialist.

Athletic trainers are recognized by the American Medical Association as allied health professionals who specialize in preventing, diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating muscle and bone injuries for athletes and the general population. Juan has experience working with national, world, and Olympic athletes on the field and in a clinical setting. More recently, he served as the head athletic trainer for Major League Rugby.

The demands of athletic training require the ability to apply critical thinking to solve complex situations while maintaining a sharp focus on the current state of the individual, history, goals, and more importantly, building trust and cooperation. Juan brings these qualities to Personal Training and as the teacher of the Ashtanga Yoga Mysore-style program.

Juan provides eastern and western perspectives on yoga, health, wellness, athletic performance, therapeutics, and rehabilitation. Additionally, Juan is able to collaborate with physicians to ensure continuity of care for clients who are seeking a return to higher levels of fitness and sport performance.
