Join Pranja Yoga teachers Anna Gieselman and Jyl Kutsche in a unique four part yoga workshop focused around opening and supporting the structures of the upper body. You will learn techniques that create space and movement from the crown of your head down to the bowl of your belly! If you suffer from chronic tightness or pain in your neck, shoulders, and upper back then this 2-day workshop is the perfect place to learn how to bring more awareness & ease to these often troublesome areas.

Both Anna Gieselman and Jyl Kutsche are students of Tias Little and Prajna Yoga in Santa Fe NM. Jyl has completed her 500 hour certification and Anna, a 200 hour graduate, are two out of the four Prajna certified teachers in Texas! They are excited to share the embodied wisdom and cultivated mindfulness that is Prajna Yoga. Additionally Anna has been a licensed massage therapist since 2005 and draws upon her experiences and knowledge of anatomy for her yoga classes. Jyl is also an LMT and is currently studying shiatsu with Yoshi Nakano.

Unlocking the Jaw and Neck

Tension around the bones of the skull can crimp the free flow of prana and show up as common complaints such as neck tension, headaches or eye strain. This class will focus on subtly releasing tension in the bones of the neck and skull, in particular the jaw and sensory organs, All Levels

Balancing the Shoulder Girdle

Long hours spent at a computer, carrying around children, and every-day emotional stressors can slowly whittle away at our uprightness creating a posture often resulting in neck, arm, and upper back pain. In this class you will learn techniques to release specific holding patterns as well as ways to strengthen the integrity of the shoulders, arms and writs. All Levels

Thoracic Awakening

11:30 am - 1:30 pm Sunday, 8/30/2015
This class will work with creating mobility in the often immobile areas of the sternum, ribs and thoracic spine as a means to soften our heart center and free up bound energy.

Broadening the Pranic River

2:30 pm - 4:30 pm Sunday, 8/30/2015
Although the diaphragm is the primary muscle for respiratory movement people often breathe with their less efficient upper neck and chest muscles. Couple that with a lifestyle of sitting in chairs, and abdominal compression and tension, the free movement of prana (breath) can become inhibited. Our final and most restorative session will be one that uses yoga postures to create more fluidity in our breath and a deeper awareness of the organic body within. All Levels
