The Yin and Yang of the Psoas and Piriformis

Join Anna and Jyl in this Pranja workshop aiming to build a stronger alliance between the two crucial muscles that serve the primary links between the legs and the spine. In this workshop you will gain insight into how your psoas and piriformis muscles work together to stabilize the pelvis, assist in healthy movement of the hip joints and hold the spine in a balanced position above the legs. With a combination of active and subtle yoga we will work to bring ease and stability into these frequently imbalanced partners. These are all level yoga classes and although they can be taken individually the intention is for each one to build upon the next for optimal results.

Discover ways to bring greater ease and release to the psoas. SATYA movement, (somatic awareness training for yoga asana), developed by Tias Little will be much of the focus of this session.

Stabilizing the Psoas with Anna & Jyl

Cultivate an intelligent approach to strengthening your deep core and stabilize the numerous joints that are affected by the psoas.

Re-calibrating the Pelvis with Anna & Jyl

A rigid piriformis muscle can create misalignment of the pelvis. In this session, our aim will be to redistribute the workload of all the muscles working to support the function of the pelvis, hips, and low spine.

Pacifying the Pirifomis with Anna & Jyl

2:30 pm - 4:30 pm, Sunday, 10/25/2015

The final session of this series will focus on opening & releasing the strong and often ornery piriformis muscle. Once again, we'll work with the SATYA movement as the means of doing this.
