This relaxing, non-invasive service combines facial and body Acupuncture with Low-level light therapy and face, neck, and scalp gua sha massage to benefit skin health at the surface and dermis levels, as well as to balance the overall wellness of the body and mind.
HOW DOES A COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE FACIAL WORK?
Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial sessions regulate the body’s internal and external health by considering each client’s lifestyle habits, emotional state, and skin health. The goals are to balance the body, relax the mind, and leave the skin glowing. Our Cosmetic Acupuncturist applies needles to facial motor points, which reach the dermis, or second layer of skin. Needles are also applied to specific points on the body. Facial needles help increase circulation and collagen production while relaxing and toning facial muscles. This collagen boost helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and enhance skin elasticity over time. Body points are chosen to activate deep relaxation and reduce stress. Internal stress shows up in the face, and points on the face can relax the mind and body. It’s all connected!
Sessions also utilize infrared light therapy, and face and scalp gua sha massage. Low-level light therapy is added to enhance the collagen and elastin boost, increase skin microcirculation, and inhibit bacteria that cause acne. Facial and scalp gua sha massage encourages lymphatic drainage, boosts blood flow, enhances facial definition, and further relaxes the facial expression muscles. A Chinese herb-infused facial oil, toner, and skin-specific moisturizer will be applied in this relaxing end to your facial.
This treatment is often viewed as a holistic alternative to cosmetic fillers, as it effectively targets visible signs of aging such as wrinkles and sagging skin. It can also be an effective adjunct treatment for acne.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?
A Cosmetic Acupuncture Facial functions best as a series of treatments. A temporary lifted, glowing, and ‘plumping’ of the skin can result from one session, but the best results occur with a series of consecutive weekly treatments to start. Individual protocols vary from patient to patient, and will be evaluated at your first session. Depending on the desired results, 12-20 sessions may be recommended in total. Follow-up sessions can be as often as once per month or every few months.
