Nutritional Counseling

With the wealth of nutrition information and misinformation available today, navigating the nutrition landscape can be difficult, but our Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is here to help! Nutrition Counseling sessions are personalized, one-on-one sessions that will help you meet your goals through whole food-based solutions.  An RDN is licensed to work with a broad range of client needs, whether you have a specific medical condition that needs closer dietary attention, are looking to lose weight, or simply want to know what a healthy diet means for you. Our Nutrition Services at Castle Hill Fitness support our mission to provide, educate, and empower our clients toward better health and greater quality of life.

Meet Danika Trierweiler, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Danika Trierweiler

Danika is a fully certified and registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Danika used to manage Food for Fitness Café and in Fall 2015 she left to follow her dream of becoming a Licensed and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. After accomplishing that, she came back to Castle Hill Fitness and is creating a new position: Nutrition Programs Manager. Danika is passionate about empowering individuals to enjoy food and life.

Initial Assessment

Your journey toward health through nutrition begins with an initial assessment.

In this hour long session, you and Danika will discuss your medical and food related history, long and short term goals for counseling, and develop a plan of action to meet those goals.

Follow-up Counseling Sessions

Check-in, discuss unexpected challenges

The frequency and number of follow up sessions needed will vary depending on your goals and nutrition needs, and will be discussed during your initial assessment.  Generally, they will occur every week or two and are scheduled for 30 minutes.  This is a time for you and Danika to check-in, discuss unexpected obstacles or challenges, redefine your goals, and refine the plan to meet those goals.

  • Single session: $65 members; $75 non-members
  • 4-session pack: $250 members; $285 non-members
  • 8-session pack: $475 members; $550 non-members
  • 12-session pack: $685 members; $790 non-members

Bod Pod + RDN Consult

Get a more complete picture of overall health

This is a 30 minute appointment that gives time for both the BodPod test and a consultation with our Registered Dietitian about your results. The BodPod uses air displacement to quickly and accurately measure body composition, giving you a more complete picture of overall health than body weight alone. A consultation with our RDN will give you the professional guidance and results interpretation to take your health to the next level.

What can Nutrition Counseling help me with?

Danika believes that good nutrition and a healthy diet is much more complex and individualized than simply eating more fruits and vegetables. Our Nutrition Counseling services can help you with a variety of food related obstacles you may be encountering in your path to wellbeing.  Whether you are looking for help with lifestyle management, weight management, medical nutrition therapy, intuitive eating, or anywhere in-between, Nutrition Counseling can help you reach your nutrition and wellness goals.

What should I expect during an appointment?

Before your 60-minute initial assessment, you will be asked to complete an intake form about your medical history, your relationship with food and diets, and your initial goals for nutrition counseling.  During this session, you and Danika will discuss the information provided in your intake, review your long and short term goals, and work together to develop a plan of action to meet those goals.  Follow up sessions are 30 minutes long, and serve as check-ins to discuss and explore unexpected obstacles or challenges, redefine goals, and refine the plan of action. Although Danika has clinical training, these sessions will be personal and personalized, far from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.

Will you make me give up cheese, beer, or bacon?!

Great news! I will not make you do anything at all.  Good nutrition and health is about balance and happiness, and who am I to say what makes you happy?  What I will do is help you to explore the purpose these foods serve in your life, and if they are preventing you from reaching your goals.  Together we can develop a personalized plan that works for you and your lifestyle. 

How many visits will I need?

This will vary depending on your specific needs and goals, and will be discussed during your initial assessment.  We offer follow-up counseling sessions in packages of 1, 4, 8, and 12.  Additionally, we offer a unique Nutrition Maintenance Membership, which consists of monthly emails and one hour-long follow up session a month.   See our pricing sheet for more information.

How can I make an appointment?

Appointments can be made no later than 2 days in advance.  You can make an appointment in one of three ways:

  1. Stop by the front desk during your visit to Castle Hill and speak to a staff member.  We are always happy to see you, and they can answer any remaining questions you have about our Nutrition packages
  2. Call the front desk during normal business hours to schedule an appointment and speak to a staff member
  3. Schedule an appointment online using MBO online scheduler

Do I have to be a member of Castle Hill Fitness to get Nutrition Counseling?

Nope.  Just like all of our programs, we open the doors to members and non-members alike! 

Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance at this time.  Like all of our other services, nutrition counseling is a “for fee” service, meaning we charge for the service at the time of appointment.  However, we can provide you with the information needed to submit to insurance on your own.

What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Nutritionist?

Great question!  The short answer is nutrition specific education and training, as well as the scope of practice and the credential itself.  Registered Dietitian Nutritionists have all completed at minimum a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition, a 1200-hour internship program, and passed a National Registration Exam in order to become credentialed.  There are no credentials or qualifications needed to call oneself a nutritionist.  All Dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Dietitians.

How can I cancel an appointment?

If you need to cancel an appointment for any reason, simply call the front desk at Castle Hill Fitness and they will take care of it for you.  However, please note our 24-hour cancelation policy.
