Anusara Yoga® Immersion 2018

The Anusara® Yoga Immersion is open to students of all styles, teachers, and aspiring teachers who wish to deepen their understanding and practice of Yoga. You will learn and practice the Universal Principles of Alignment, the fundamentals of pranayama and meditation, study yogic texts and explore the life-affirming philosophy of Anusara Yoga®. Completion of an Immersion is a pre-requisite that prepares students for the Anusara Yoga teacher training.

A Certified Anusara® Yoga Instructor with over 25 years of teaching experience, Charly brings a deep understanding of how the physical practice of Yoga can connect to one’s heart and have the power to transform lives.

The Art of Balancing

Do you have a difficult time standing on one leg for more than a few seconds or do you tend to lose your balance when walking up stairs? If so, this workshop is for you!
Join Anna for a 90 minute yoga clinic focused on the basics of balancing postures. We will be working from the ground up to cultivate stability in the feet, ankles, and legs so balance comes more readily. You will also learn a few handy tricks that can be practiced regularly to improve your relationship with gravity.

Asana Lab: Happy Hips

Whether sitting for prolonged periods or actively training, you might notice a certain tightness and angriness in your hips. This series is for you! In this round of Asana Lab, you will turn hip grumpiness into happiness by lovingly paying attention to the weak areas and the tight areas that encompass the circumference of your hips. Increase your mobility with consistent practice of hip strengthening and hip opening yoga poses over the course of 5 weeks.

The Basics & Beyond

Regardless of the method of yoga you study, the precision, intelligence, and dynamism of Iyengar can help you bring your practice to the next level.

Randy is the Director of the BKS Iyengar Studio of Dallas and is a Senior Intermediate 1 Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher. Randy has studied many years with the Iyengars in Pune, India, as well as many Senior Iyengar teachers globally and in the US.

Students and teachers of all yoga traditions are welcome to attend. Some yoga experience is recommended, but this will be an All Levels workshop. Don't miss it!

Yoga and the Five Elements

with Anna and Colleen  12 to 2 p.m. Sunday

Join Anna and Colleen for the first of 5 workshops exploring an integrated approach to wellness throughout the year. In each session, we will explore the 5 element theory of Chinese Medicine within the context of our yoga practice. You will learn the location of the Chinese meridians, their relevance to your health and how to tailor your yoga practice to support your body during the changes of each season. Additionally, we will discuss the roles that nutrition and emotions play in the overall vitality of your body.

When the Texas heat kicks into high gear it is easy to become hot and bothered in a bad way. In this class we will embrace summer's joyful exuberance with a playful yet cooling practice of supported backbends that nourish the heart and root the spirit.

Anna is a 500hr Prajna Yoga teacher and has been teaching at Castle Hill since 2012. Colleen Straney, L.Ac, MAOM, received her master's degree in Oriental Medicine from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in 2008, and has a private practice here in Austin. They look forward to sharing this holistic approach to wellness with you throughout 2018.

We'll lead you through a powerful all-levels sequence followed by restorative myofascial self-massage work and a guided meditation. 
GEN's mission is to ensure that all girls believe in their power to succeed. Statistics show that during the pre-teen years girls are more likely to lose their sense of self-worth. GEN's programs catch girls, especially the most vulnerable, at this stage and teach them the skills they need to believe in themselves and their ability to be unstoppable.

Monthly Community Yoga for Local Charities

Join us to support a local charity each month! 
An atmosphere of play and practice awaits you! Join Kim in this 2 hour group practice where we have the time and space to prepare the body for more advanced poses.
Please join us if you are comfortable with inversions, can push up into full wheel unassisted, and if you feel at ease honoring your limits and observing a challenging pose unfold.

The intention of this group practice is to come together with the larger Austin yoga community to share tips and tricks, laughter and good company as we intelligently work the physical body.

Yoga for Strong & Supple Shoulders

In this afternoon workshop, you will learn a variety of basic yoga poses that will help strengthen and create flexibility in the shoulder join. We will also explore how to approach various arm balances and inversions in ways that will keep your shoulders, elbows, and wrists safe and happy as you advance your yoga practice. 
This is an all levels workshop that will incorporate education about the shoulder joint as well as practical applications to build strength in this often vulnerable area of the body.

She also has a PhD in philosophy and a great sense of humor so expect fun, thoughtful reflections on the meaning of life, the universe, and everything in between.
