Asana Lab: Hip Openers

Ever struggle with a pose in class and wish for more time to explore it? Asana Lab gives you 5 weeks to go deep into the subtleties of groups of postures such as standing poses, hip openers, arm balances (like handstands!), backbends and inversions.

This 5 week series moves your attention to the "junk drawer" of the body. It is common to put all the things we don't know what to do with into our hips, both emotionally and physically. In this round of the asana lab series, you'll delve into hip openers like pigeon pose, bound angle pose, hero pose and more to help you discover transformation and freedom. Hip openers relieve lower back tension and increase health in the pelvis and lower spine.

Meet your teacher: Kim Schaefer
Kim is an Anusara Inspired™ yoga teacher and licensed massage therapist with extensive training in anatomy and physiology. Kim came to yoga as a burned-out triathlete who could barely touch her toes. It is through learning alignment that she learned to utilize poses to lengthen her hamstrings, find more mobility in her hips and open her shoulders.
