Down-Dog 101

WITH Anna Gieselman
Noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday

The most practiced asana of all time

Have you ever wondered if you are doing down-dog correctly? Adho Mukha Svanasana aka Downward Facing Dog is one of those yoga postures that is practiced in almost every yoga class you'll encounter. It is also a pose that many people dislike due to shoulder strain, tight hamstrings and blood pressure in the head. Aside from being an prerequisite for arm balancing it also offers a wide variety of therapeutic benefits such as reducing stiffness in the shoulder joints and rejuvenating body as blood is circulated towards the heart and brain.

In this 90 minute clinic Anna will help you prepare your legs, arms and back while also teaching you the essential actions of down-dog to turn this often dreaded posture into the place of ease that it is intended to be. We will also learn alternatives to down dog that can be incorporated into your yoga practice for those times when the full pose isn't benefiting your body. This class is appropriate for anyone wanting to learn the basics or simply refine their existing knowledge of one of the most practiced asanas of all times.
